Online Classes FAQs

How do I access your online classes?

You can access the classes using a computer, laptop, tablet or phone using the Zoom App. You will need to download the app onto your device but do not need to create an account. I can help you with this whole process if needed. Contact me to book into the class and make a payment of £7 into my account via online banking, then half an hour before the class I will email you a link to join the class. Simply click on the link and it will bring you straight into the virtual waiting room, I will open the class 10 mins before we start and let you in.

What do I need at home to practice with you?

You will need a clear space big enough to move in safely. You also need to angle the camera on your device so that you can see me and I can see you. I invite you into your first class before the other participants and we can check your equipment is working properly. A yoga mat is preferable if you have one because it creates a non slip surface to practice upon, also cushions and blankets are good for padding and getting cosy in relaxation. If you have any yoga props like bricks, blocks or straps they can come in useful too. A belt and a couple of hard backed books also work well as alternatives.

Do I need to book?

Yes, it is essential because class sizes are limited. Once you have booked I will send you a link to join half an hour before the class starts. Payment must be recieved before the class. I give you my bank account details and you pay £8 straight into my account via online banking. Please put your name into the reference so that I can easily identify you. Before your first session I require you to fill out a health and Information Questionnaire. Usually I will send you the form to fill in or you can download it from the 'About' section drop down menu of this website. Before your first class I let you in earlier than the other participants so we can discuss anything from the form, you can ask any questions, I can explain how the session is structured.

What kind of yoga do you teach?

My classes are based in the Hatha tradition. Hatha Yoga is what comes to mind when you think of yoga in general terms. It involves the breath, the body and the mind. Mindful movements, postures, sequences, breath-work, meditation and relaxation all feature in my 90 minute classes. My classes are for everyone, I offer plenty of variations for postures so that you can find what feels good in your body. One of my mantras is to move in a wide variety of ways and my classes certainly encompass this ideal. I work in blocks of six weeks where a rounded practice is explored through a specific theme. Throughout five weeks movements, postures and dynamic sequences are developed to build strength, flexibility and stability. In the sixth week to compliment the theme I teach a Yin Yoga session. Yin Yoga is a slow, calming pratice where seated and laying postures are held for longer periods of time. These postures work into the deeper tissues of the joints and ligaments. Yin Yoga is an excellent way to improve your mobility and calm the mind.
